Important information for patients & visitors
Ban on visiting inpatients
Against the background of the rising coronavirus infections in and around Cologne and the associated significantly higher number of COVID-19 cases being treated at the University Hospital Cologne, a ban on visiting inpatients will be imposed from Friday 27 November 2020. This measure is necessary to protect patients and staff.
From the above date, access to the University Hospital Cologne will be prohibited to visitors who do not have a written letter of exemption from the senior consulting physicians. Authorisation will be checked at the central registration offices before admission to the hospital.
Letters of exemption can only be granted in individual cases where the ban on visits would result in disproportionate hardship for the relatives or the patient (birth, dying patients, children etc.)
Outpatients can only be accompanied to examinations and treatments in special exceptional cases where the individual is necessarily dependent on help.
Please note that our security services will be carrying out checks on the campus and in particular in the access areas of the buildings.
