Forschung

Muskuloskelettale Erkrankungen, wie z. B. Osteoporose und Osteoarthrose, sind häufig und weisen deutlich steigende Inzidenz auf. Sie zählen zu den Volkskrankheiten mit hoher sozio-ökonomischer Relevanz. Die Betroffenen leiden häufig unter starken Schmerzen und funktionellen Einschränkungen, die zu sozialen, psychologischen und ökonomischen Belastungen mit substantiellen finanziellen Konsequenzen führen. Aktuell sind Kenntnisse zur Ätiopathogenese und Behandlung der muskuloskelettalen Erkrankungen als unzureichend zu bewerten.

Der Bedarf an Forschung, nicht nur an den speziellen Geweben, sondern auch am muskuloskelettalen System als Ganzes, ist offensichtlich und zwingend notwendig. Das CCMB leistet mit seiner Forschung einen Beitrag zur Verbesserung der Diagnostik, Prävention, Behandlung, Therapie und Regeneration von Erkrankungen und Verletzungen des muskuloskelettalen Systems.

Die Forschung des CCMB ist auf verschiedenen Ebenen, von der Grundlagenforschung bis zur klinischen Intervention, angesiedelt. Durch die Beteiligung der verschiedenen Institute mit ihren unterschiedlichen Forschungsdisziplinen wird Wissen ausgetauscht, Ressourcen (Geräte) und Methoden können synergistisch genutzt werden. Gemeinsame Forschungsprojekte sollen gestärkt werden.
